Debt payoff calculator

Build a complete debt payoff plan

Debt payoff planning can involve one balance or several debts with different rates and minimum payments. This calculator starts with a portfolio workflow and also supports a single debt when that is all you need.

Methodology and limits

How this calculator estimates payoff

Single-debt calculations use the standard monthly payoff engine. Portfolio calculations use the shared strategy engine for minimum, snowball, and avalanche plans.

Every modeled payment is capped at the amount due. Portfolio strategy payments can roll to another active debt within the same month.

Assumptions

  • Entered balances, APRs, and payments remain unchanged unless the selected strategy reallocates payments.
  • All payments are modeled monthly and interest is rounded to cents.
  • No affordability, income, credit, or lender approval assumptions are made.

Limitations

  • Issuer timing, fees, and daily interest can change actual results.
  • The calculator is an educational planning tool and does not select a payoff plan for you.
