Methodology and assumptions
The calculator divides your APR by 12 and applies that monthly rate to the opening balance. Interest, principal, and payments are rounded to the nearest cent each month.
The first payment is modeled one calendar month from today. Final payments are capped at the remaining amount due. Extra money is redirected within the same month when a target reaches zero.

The highest APR receives available extra money while other debts keep their minimum payments.
Snowball balance ties and avalanche APR ties use the original debt entry order. Strategy budgets equal starting minimum payments plus the shared extra payment.
